My name is John Bonnell. I work in Michigan State University (MSU) in the United States 🇺🇸 i am a capacity development specialist working with sub Saharan African universities.

QUESTION 1 : WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF YOUR VISIT ?

The purpose of our visit is to do an evaluation of the organizational strengthen program that is part of through the USA innovation lab for food security policy research influence and capacity.

QUESTION 2 : WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR PARTNERSHIP WITH ISRA BAME ?

Our partnership with ISRA-BAME has been very dynamic and successful.
And the purpose of the team is to work together to calculate a plan strengthen ISRA-BAME’s influence in the policy system and it has definitely been very effective we are here for few days to do a multine mix approche to really analyze what particular strategies and activities are most effective to strengthen their influence and it’s been a real joy not just work but actually fun to work together.

QUESTION 3 : WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM THIS EVALUATION ?

We have learnt with the leadership of ISRA-BAME as well as the research team and the research support team.
One thing that is very clear across all the different teams is that they value the organizational facilities and equipments and the place of work really matters and we can see that in just a few years that ISRA-BAME physical location and equipments is really has improved and that obviously enhance organizational performance.
We have also seen that ISRA-BAME has hired several new critical positions and we have had from multiple people across the organization having a significant impact including really helping the visibility of ISRA-BAME to increase. And so that along with other new exciting partnerships reporting for things we learning from this visit.

QUESTION 4 : WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS OF THIS COLLABORATION ?

We are exited as MSU to also be closely linked to ANARPRI which is a original network on agriculture policy units across the continent and so your participation in that network we hopefully hope to engage all institutes but especially ISRA-BAME for Long term partnership and MSU is really proud of its long standing and partnership with many organizations in sub Saharan Africa.
So when program ends that particular project it may come to an end but relationship continues perhaps even additional funding for programs I personally will be delighted to keep working with ISRA-BAME.

QUESTION 5 : HOW DO YOU SEE THE FUTURE OF ISRA BAME AFTER THE END OF PRCI ?

Like a rising star, I can definitely tell that ISRA-BAME is going to have significant influence not just academically publishing papers, seating in officies but really making a difference for the well being of communities and for the country.

I have enjoyed Dibi, and some Yassa and of course the plantains.

Je m’appelle John Bonnel, je travaille au Michigan State University (MSU), aux États-Unis. Je suis un spécialiste du développement des capacités travaillant avec des universités d’Afrique subsaharienne.

1 QUEL EST LE BUT DE VOTRE VISITE ?
Le but de notre visite est de faire une évaluation du Programme de renforcement organisationnel (PRCI) du Laboratoire d’innovation pour l’influence et la capacité de recherche sur les politiques de sécurité alimentaire des États-Unis.

2 QUE PENSEZ-VOUS DE VOTRE PARTENARIAT AVEC L’ISRA BAME ?
Notre partenariat avec l’ISRA-BAME a été très dynamique et fructueux.
Et le but de l’équipe est de travailler ensemble pour réfléchir sur un plan de renforcer l’influence d’ISRA-BAME dans le système politique ; et cela a certainement été atteint.
Nous sommes ici depuis quelques jours suivant une approche multipartite pour vraiment analyser quelles stratégies et activités spécifiques sont les plus efficaces pour renforcer l’influence du BAME auprès des décideurs. Et ce fut une vraie joie, non seulement de travailler avec l’équipe, mais aussi de travailler ensemble.

3 QU’AVEZ-VOUS APPRIS DE CETTE EVALUATION ?
Nous avons appris avec le leadership de l’ISRA-BAME ainsi qu’avec l’équipe de recherche et l’équipe de soutien à la recherche.
Une chose qui est très claire dans les différentes équipes rencontrées, c’est qu’elles s’accordent sur l’importance liée aux installations et aux équipements de l’organisation et que le l’environnement de travail est vraiment important. Et nous pouvons voir qu’en quelques années seulement, l’emplacement physique et les équipements d’ISRA-BAME se sont vraiment améliorés et que cela améliore évidemment les performances de l’organisation.
Nous avons également constaté que l’ISRA-BAME a embauché plusieurs nouveaux profils stratégiques qui ont eu un impact significatif sur le travail de plusieurs personnes au sein de l’organisation, notamment en aidant vraiment à accroître la visibilité. Et c’est pourquoi, nous partagerons ce que nous avons appris de cette visite avec d’autres nouveaux partenariats passionnants.

4 QUELLES SONT LES PROCHAINES ETAPES DE CETTE COLLABORATION ?
Nous sommes également étroitement liés à l’ANARPRI, qui est un réseau original regroupant les centres de recherche en politique agricole à travers le continent, et nous espérons donc que votre participation avec ce réseau impliquera tous les instituts, mais en particulier l’ISRA-BAME, pour un partenariat à long terme. Le MSU est vraiment fièr de son partenariat de longue date avec de nombreuses organisations en Afrique subsaharienne.
A la fin du programme, ce projet particulier peut prendre fin, mais la relation se poursuit. Peut-être même qu’un financement supplémentaire suivra pour les programmes. Je serai personnellement ravi de continuer à travailler avec ISRA-BAME.

5 COMMENT VOYEZ-VOUS L’AVENIR DE L’ISRA BAME APRES LA FIN DU PRCI ?
Telle une étoile montante, je peux certainement dire que l’ISRA-BAME va avoir une influence significative, non seulement en publiant des articles universitaires, en siégeant dans des bureaux, mais en faisant vraiment une différence au profit du bien-être des communautés et du pays.

BONUS : TON PLAT SENEGALAIS PREFERE ?
J’ai apprécié Dibi, et un peu le Yassa et bien sûr les bananes plantains.
